CALL FOR APPLICATIONS / Choreographic Competition


We would like to invite you to apply for the 14th International Festival of Choreographic Miniatures, a competition for contemporary dance choreographers, which will be held 11th-15 th May, 2010. in the National Theater, Belgrade, Serbia and on other dance stages in Belgrad

Competition requirements:

maximum length of the choreography is 10 minutes and must be premiered at the Festival.

An international jury of five members will award the three best choreographic miniatures with the following Prizes:

1st prize: Hypo Alpe – Adria - Bank Award ….. 3000 €

2nd prize: Hypo Alpe – Adria - Bank Award ….. 2000 €

3rd prize: Hypo Alpe – Adria - Bank Award ….. 1000 €

Each prize will be followed by bronze statue and diploma awarded by Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia.

Three other prizes will be awarded – “The Dance Critics Award” ( three member’s jury ), “The Aleksandar Izrailovski Award” and “The Public Audience Award”.

We are proud to announce that in 2010 for the occasion of the 14th Festival of Choreographic Miniatures, the Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia will commence a long term Project of supporting Serbian choreographers – The Award of Encouragement. All Serbian choreographers who apply for the 2010 edition of the Festival, will be judged during the final competition by five members of The Art Council of the Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia. The Association will provide a full length dance performance for the best choreographer which will be premiered during the 15th Festival of Choreographic Miniatures 2011. The performance will be repertoired at the Belgrade Dance Centre for future performing.

Deadline: Completed application forms and recordings of the choreography (on VHS or PAL-DVD) must reach the Festival office by April 10th, 2010. The video must only contain the choreography to be performed in the competition.

Receipt of applications will be acknowledged by email.

Admission to the competition will be decided by a pre-jury and the applicants will be informed by April 15th 2010. Admission to the competition is subject to the organisers’ consent.


Selected choreographers must confirm their acceptance by April 20th 2010.

The final round of selection will be held before the jury and in front of the public on May 11th in the National Theatre in Belgrade.

The final competition evening will be on May 12th 2010 in National Theatre in Belgrade in front of the public.

The Festival will provide hostel accommodation (room and breakfast) for competitors selected by the jury for the Final Selection.

Travel expenses are not covered by the Festival.

Please be aware that videotapes and DVDs cannot be returned to the applicants.

Еретиците, опозиционерите, писателите, а може би и някои хореографи имат шанса да развалят установения ред според творческите си възможности. И аз най-искрено се надявам на това."
